PATENTS, TRADEMARKS
Patent "Test device for low-voltage DC power supply unit for automatic control system of auxiliary circuits in electric vehicles"
Certificate with registration № 5376 U1 -15.04.2026 issued by the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria, for registration of a utility model.
The present utility model was developed and implemented with the leading role of the senior assistant, Dr. Eng. Petko Kostadinov, in connection with research on the rolling stock of “BDZ” EAD. The device is used as a measuring, testing and testing tool for low-power DC power supplies (low-voltage DC sources), intended for service workshops, depots, garages, production control and laboratory tests, and is available in the laboratories of the Department of “Power Supply and Electrical Equipment of Transport”.
The utility model allows for automated verification of the stability of output voltages, measurement of currents and temperatures, as well as registration of critical states when testing power supplies. The built-in microprocessor, measuring, thermal, communication and interface modules provide the opportunity for controlled test modes, remote monitoring and visualization of the current state.
Patent "Simulator for the study of blinding in vehicle drivers"
Certificate with registration No. 5205 U1 от 16.02.2026 issued by the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria, for registration of a utility model.
The present utility model was developed and implemented in the Simulator Complex at the VTU “Todor Kableshkov”. It was implemented based on the idea of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Dilyana Mitseva and her team in connection with her dissertation work. It is used in the study of dazzle in drivers of vehicles, with an emphasis on drivers of underground and surface railway transport, and helps to improve the quality of training.
The simulator recreates the conditions in the control cabin through a lighting system, audio system and vibration source, allowing controlled reproduction of the transitions between dark and brightly lit areas. By controlling the illumination, speed and exposure time, the influence of dazzle on the driver’s concentration and reactions is studied without the need for actual vehicle control. The utility model provides an opportunity for safer, repeatable and objective training, as well as for assessing the behavior of drivers in conditions of reduced visibility and sudden changes in illumination.
Patent "System for increasing energy efficiency and absorbing regenerative energy from electric vehicles powered by a direct current contact network"
Certificate with registration No. 5088 U1 (dated 31.07.2025), issued by the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria, for registration of a utility model.
Patent "Photovoltaic Module Tester"
Certificate with registration No. 4975 U1 (16.12.2024), issued by the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria, for registration of a utility patent.
At the end of 2024. The Higher School of Transport “Todor Kableshkov” officially received a certificate with reg. No. 4975 U1, issued by the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria, for the registration of a utility patent with the name of the patent “TESTER FOR PHOTOVOLTAIC MODULES”. The inventors are the lecturers from the Department of “Power Supply and Electrical Equipment of Transport” Assoc. Prof. Lyubomir Sekulov, Assoc. Prof. Martina Tomcheva, Senior Asst. Todor Lalev, Senior Asst. Martin Zlatkov, Senior Asst. Petko Kostadinov, Asst. Dilyana Mitseva, Asst. Irena Bozhichkova and PhD students Emil Dodov and Dimitar Konov.
New trademark DEFMOT
A new trademark DEFMOT, owned by the Higher Transport School “Todor Kableshkov”, was registered with the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria on 10.03.21.
The new opportunity was implemented under project No. 90-05-20 “Contribution of VTU to the analysis, modeling and optimization of multifactor simulation or experimental databases” headed by Prof. Nikolay Tonchev. In addition to the trademark, the result of this project was the testing of the DEFMOT moving constraints approach for applications to tasks from the specialization of our Higher School.
In 2021, the project continues with the main goals: publishing results from the project idea in the recognizable European scientific space; preparing samples and tests with equipment available to VTU “Todor Kableshkov” for application to the Scientific Research Fund; expanding the range of tasks and consultations in implementing the VTU DEFMOT method and creating new business partnerships.
Congratulations on another success of Prof. Nikolay Tonchev!
On 31.05. 2021, a UTILITY MODEL was registered in the Patent Office of the Republic of Bulgaria with the name: “Inertial and navigational measurement system for assessing the condition of a railway network”.
The team of inventors includes representatives of the VTU Assoc. Prof. Dr. Emil Yonchev from the Department of “Communication and Security Equipment and Systems” and Dr. Eng. Emil Mihaylov.
