On January 27, 2025, the General Assembly of the Todor Kableshkov Higher School of Transport elected Prof. Dr. Eng. Krasimir Krastanov as the new rector of our educational institution. Prof. Krastanov received the support of more than 80% of the votes, competing against Prof. Dr. Eng. Dimitar Dimitrov and Prof. Dr. Valentina Staneva. His journey at HST began in 1996 and has progressed through all educational and academic ranks. He holds a master’s degree in “Lifting and Transport Machines” as well as a bachelor’s degree in a military specialty. Throughout his professional development, Prof. Krastanov has worked on dozens of national and international projects, research studies, and specializations in the field of transport and transport infrastructure. He has held management positions and participated in numerous prestigious scientific forums both nationally and internationally. Over the past 12 years, he has successively held the positions of Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Construction Technologies in Transport and Vice-Rector for Research and International Activities.
The election of the new rector clearly reflects the academic community’s satisfaction with the university’s previous leadership. Prof. Krasimir Krastanov inherits the principles and management style of the previous rector, Prof. Dr. Daniela Todorova, as a member of her team. In his mandate program, as well as in the discussion with the three rector candidates before the election procedure, Prof. Krastanov declared his intention to continue following the direction in which HST has moved during the past two highly successful terms of administration.
