26th INTERNATIONAL SPRING SEMINAR IN THE HIGH TATRAS, SLOVAK REPUBLIC


 The 26th International Spring Seminar on Electronic Technology: Integrated Management of Electronic Materials Production was held in the High Tatras, Stara Lesna, Slovakia, from 8 to 12 May 2003. The Conference was organized by the Department of Technologies in Electronic with the Technical University in Kosice, Slovakia in cooperation with the IEEE, Components, Packaging and Manufacturing Technology /CPMT/ Society, and the IEEE for Slovakia. Assoc. Prof. Nencho Nenov, Ph.D., Rector of the Higher School of Transport is a member of the International Steering Committee. 

The seminar was attended by scientists, teachers, post-graduate and graduate students from 15 countries on 4 continents: the USA, China, New Guiana and most of the European countries. The number of the papers presented is 108.

The papers were presented in 6 sessions in the Congress Hall (26 papers) and in 3 poster sessions (82papers). The presentations were assessed by commissions of members of the IEEE Steering Committee according to criteria preliminarily approved. 

From the ten papers sent by authors from the school only eight were approved to be presented according to the criteria of the Steering Committee.

Kalin Hristov The group of the participants from the Higher School of Transport included two students: Kalin Hristov and Kaloyan Mitev, 4 postgraduate students: Ilka Stefanova and Emiliya Dimitrova from the Department of Communication and Safety Equipment and Systems, Ahmed Saliev and Ivan Petrov from the Department of Organization and Management of Transport, two teachers: Nelly Stoytcheva, Ph.D., Senior Lecturer and Margarita Georgieva, M.Sc., Senior Lecturer, and Assoc. Prof. Nencho Nenov, Ph.D. During the conference it was announced that Youth Section of IEEE had been established at the Higher School of Transport. 

The papers presented attracted the interest of all participants Kalin Hristov, a forth-year student in the Program of Telecommunications made an oral presentation in the Conference Hall. The Bulgarian students were the youngest participants in the conference. 

During the conference there was a meeting of the International Steering Committee where the best papers presented were awarded and a number of organizational problems were discussed as well. It was decided unanimously that the Spring Seminar ISSE 2004 will be held in Bulgaria, at the Black Sea coast, the hosts being the Higher School of Transport, the Technical University of Sofia, the University of Rouse in cooperation with the IEEE, Components, Packaging and Manufacturing Technology /CPMT/ society and the IĊĊĊ section for Bulgaria.
