Students and teachers from Todor Kableshkov University of Transport visited Koprivshtica

The labor day (1st of May) is a significant celebration for Koprivshtica town – 141 years of the April uprising. For decades, many citizens from the town reproduce unique and unforgettable moments from the April uprising every year. This event has important role in the national history of Bulgaria.

On this day many students and teachers from Todor Kableshkov University of Transport went to the birth place of the university’s patron. They went through the cobblestone streets of the town in their way to the Todor Kableshkov’s Museum House. Many visitors of the town of Koprivshtica were impressed by the delegation of Todor Kableshkov University of Transport because the student who was carrying the Bulgarian flag was dressed in Bulgarian national costume. The rector of the university – prof. Daniela Todorova, PhD, the vice-rector in research and international relations – prof. Petar Kolev DSc, the dean of faculty “Communications and electric equipment in transport” – prof. Ivan Milenov, PhD and the vice-dean of faculty “Construction technologies in transport” – assoc. prof. Penko Tsvetkov, PhD also participated in the delegation.

The delegation was kindly welcomed in the birth place of Todor Kableshkov by its housekeeper – mrs. Kunka Nedeleva and the tourist guide mrs. Katya Mrankova, who got the delegation familiar with Todor Kableshkov’s life. The delegation was also welcomed by the chairwoman of Todor Kableshkov Alliance, who is a representative of the revolutionary’s family – mrs. Rayna Kableshkova.

The students and teachers from the university of transport together with another delegation led by the vice-president of the Republic of Bulgaria – mrs. Iliyana Yotova laid down wreaths on Todor Kableshkov’s grave. Another wreath on behalf of Todor Kableshkov University of Transport was laid down on the square named “20th of April”. The representatives of Todor Kableshkov University of Transport watched a theatre play, which reproduced unforgettable moments from the April uprising. They also took participation in the festive Bulgarian horo. Nikolina Chakardakova was a special guest of the celebration.
