Signing a Memorandum with Honored Representatives from the Municipal Authority of the City of Ningbo, China

On 22 November 2017 an official memorandum for cooperation in the field of transport infrastructure was signed between the “Todor Kableshkov” University of Transport and our partners from the Ningbo University of Technology, China, as well as official representatives of China and Central and Eastern Europe Secretariat for Cooperation, a governmental structure based in Beijing, China. A major milestone in the Memorandum was the creation of a research center for transport infrastructure development and investment cooperation between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

Members of the numerous foreign delegation were representatives of the academic community of the Ningbo University of Technology, high-ranking guests from the city’s municipal authority, as well as representatives of the local cultural and business community in Ningbo and professional organizations in the transport industry.

The foreign guests were welcomed in an old custom with hot bread, honey and salt and were fascinated by the traditional Bulgarian hospitality. The delegation met the facilities of the university and visited the Todor Kableshkov Museum.

At the initiative of “T. Kableshkov” University of Transport, as recognition of the successful cooperation in the field of research and professional training of the students, to sign the memorandum with the Rector Prof. Ph.D. eng.-econ. Daniela Todorova, also were invited our good partners from the Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy, Varna (on behalf of the Head of the Academy, the fleet admiral professor D.Sc. eng. Boyan Mednikarov the contract signed assoc. prof. Ph.D. Miroslav Tsvetkov), Eng. Krasimir Papuchchiiski – General Director of National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC), Mr. Stefan Totev – Executive Director of GP Group JSC and Valeri Vasilev – chief executive officer of the State Enterprise   “Transport Construction and Rehabilitation”.

Witnesses of the signing from Bulgarian part were the Deputy Minister of Transport, Information Technologies and Communications Velik Zanchev, Mr. Yavor Georgiev from the Parliamentary Committee on Transport, Information Technologies and Communications and Associate Professor Nikolay Tsonkov from the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Science. As witnesses from the guests from China the meeting was attended by the Minister and Vice Minister of Ningbo Publicity Department, as well as senior representatives of the departments of culture, finance, protocol activities, etc. of the Ningbo Municipality.

In the framework of the official celebration on the occasion of the signing of the memorandum, greetings to the numerous foreign delegation were given by prof. Ph.D. eng.-econ. Daniela Todorova and Deputy Minister Zanchev,  and from the guests by Mr. Tu Xuesong, director of the newly established China Cultural Center in Sofia and Minister Wan Yawei, who invited all attendees to visit Ningbo, where they can taste traditional Chinese delicacies and enjoy the unique culture of this ancient country.

Our university has been partnering with the Ningbo University of Technology since 2013, with a joint training agreement signed and two-way exchange of PhD students and students between the two institutions. Another initiative to extend academic cooperation between Bulgaria and China is the creation of Think Tank, specialized in transport infrastructure consultancy for the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
